Double Monstera Earrings
Monstera deliciosa, also known as the Swiss cheese plant, because of the lacey, irregular holes in it's leaves, is a species of flowering plant native to tropical forests of southern Mexico, south to Panama.
Designed by Michael Michaud, these Monstera Leaf 2-tier post earrings replicate the iconic lace-like leaves of the giant monstera. Cast in bronze and finished in multiple shades of soft green with hand-applied patinas, 24-karat gold.
Elegant and organic!
This unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting. Michael uses an actual leaf, branch or flower instead of a wax model. A mold is formed around the botanical element and during the heating process the plant matter is burned away leaving behind a detailed image of itself. Soft patinas are then used on cast bronze and further accented with pearls , beads, corals, glass or stones.
