False Indigo Earrings
Shop Now! Now Available at MyAmericanCrafts these lovely blue False Indigo Earrings by Michael Michaud of Silver Seasons.
False Indigo, also known as Baptisia, is a much-beloved flower that can be seen across North America. Cast in bronze from a real False Indigo plant, these earrings feature a green patina finish and are accented with blue cast glass flowers and blue agate beads. The glass flowers are cast by Michael's son and fellow artisan, Michael Vincent Michaud.
This unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting. Michael uses an actual leaf, branch or flower instead of a wax model. A mold is formed around the botanical element and during the heating process the plant matter is burned away leaving behind a detailed image of itself. Soft patinas are then used on cast bronze and further accented with pearls , beads, corals, glass or stones.
