An exquisitely carved pattern of purple thistles and green leaves  with sweet honey bees fluttering from blossom to blossom adorns this lovely bowl.

The softly rippled edges and  center are  a mixture of ethereal shades of blue and purple.

This wheel thrown, functional work of ceramic art is created by impressing bas-relief images into the edge or lip of the bowl or vases. The images, called "roulettes"  are hand carved on separate sections on porcelain. The sculpting of a roulette is done in reverse: all surfaces meant to protrude must be carved deep into the clay, and the left and right sides of the image must be flipped. Various stains and glazes are applied to high light the details and the piece is then fired.

Food safe and ready to be enjoyed; a great gift for bee lovers!
